Tennis
We’ve been playing tennis at Esher Tennis & Padel since 1898. Over that time, our members have changed, the courts have changed, even the club’s location has changed. One thing hasn’t changed: our love of tennis.
Tennis is played all year round at Esher Tennis & Padel, and by players of all standards. We have social mix-in sessions; a competitive singles ladder; mens, ladies and mixed doubles teams; and an award-winning coaching programme.
-
Membership
Whether you’re an experienced singles player or a complete novice; a college student or a family of four, we have tennis membership options to suit you.
-
Coaching
We have an extensive coaching programme that caters for EVERYONE. From adults to tots, from total beginners to national champions. Whatever your level, we’re happy to arrange trials, recommend sessions and point you in the right direction!
-
Courts
We have nine tennis courts. Three floodlit artificial clay courts, three brand new floodlit hard courts and three other recently resurfaced hard courts.
-
Mix-In
We have three popular tennis mix-in sessions every week on Tuesday evenings, and Saturday and Sunday afternoons. They’re the perfect way to play doubles in a friendly, lightly competitive setting.
-
Teams
We have eight men’s, ladies and mixed doubles teams entered into the Surrey and Woking leagues.
-
Ladder
Test yourself against other club members on the tennis singles ladder. Sign up and see how high you can climb!
“Esher is such a great club, it is really friendly and social. There are lots of classes and groups. Some of the regular players invited me to join them on one of the mornings to play some good level and fun doubles matches. There are classes and clinics for all levels of player and age.”

FAQs
-
I'm thinking about joining, can I come to the club for a visit or a trial?
Absolutely. We encourage potential members to visit the club before deciding whether to join. Please contact us at membership@eshertennis.co.uk and we’ll be very happy to arrange a time for you to come and visit the club.
-
How do I book a court?
Court bookings are handled by the LTA’s ClubSpark system which you can access by clicking ‘Court Booking’ at the top of this website.
-
I don't know any other members. HOw do I arrange a game?
We pride ourselves on being a friendly, welcoming club so we’re confident you’ll soon get to know other members. The best place to start is one of our dedicated tennis mix-in sessions, which happen every week on Tuesday evening, and Saturday and Sunday afternoons. We also have a singles ladder, which you’ll get access to upon becoming a member.
-
I don't have my own racket. Can I borrow one?
No problem, the club has a small selection of rackets you can use. We would encourage members to purchase their own rackets however.
-
I'd love to arrange some lessons. How do I do that?
Check out our coaching programme - we have sessions for all ages and abilities. If you have any questions, let us know at or speak to a member of our coaching team and they’ll be happy to recommend the right sessions for you.
-
How much does it cost to use the floodlights?
Absolutely nothing. Use of the floodlights is included in your membership fee. The machine to use the lights is inside the clubhouse.
-
Can I bring a guest to the club?
You are very welcome to bring a guest to play at the club. The same guest can play 3 times a season (6 times a year). There is a small charge of £10 per guest. Details of how to pay are in the members area and included in the members welcome pack.
